Gehl articulated loaders are all equipped together with Yanmar diesel engines. These engines have proven to be quiet and efficient powerhouses that feature Interim Tier IV-certified emission technology. These engines are known for their excellent effectiveness in all functions. Horsepower on the model 540 ranges to 47hp, and to 23hp on the model 140.
Gehl articulated loaders have been built to be able to function just about anywhere. They provide optimal maneuverability and traction because of a heavy-duty oscillating joint which offers forty five degree revolving angles toward the right and left, with 10 degrees of oscillation in both directions. Access is fixed to confined and tight places by narrow engine widths. Majority of skid-steer loaders with similar operating capacities are unable to compete. The bucket and tires on the Gehl equipment follow a constant turn radius too. This means the back tires of the loader follow the path of the front tires.
Fantastic hydraulic performance, with several time-saving features on the Gehl articulated loaders, offers customers with the hydraulic power and precision they have come to expect from all of the Gehl machinery. Lift arm and bucket float features allow these machines to be able to execute rearward level and light scraping actions. Flat-face couplers, together with the two easily accessible auxiliary hydraulic lines power several tools and make changing the accessories a simple job to complete.
The articulated loaders made by Gehl have lift arms which are uniquely created to maximize strength, great visibility, and a fast time cycle. The linkage design is specialized to allow for mechanized self-leveling action in downward and upward directions. It can also easily carry out excellent bucket dump angles at the top and mid ranges of the lift path together with providing excellent forward reach. Models 140 and 340 have parallel type linkage and the model 540 has "Z" bar type linkage. These linkage designs offer great bucket breakout forces from 2433lbs on the model 140 to ten thousand seven hundred forty nine pounds on the 540 model.
Gehl articulated loaders are known all over the globe for their unsurpassed visibility, ease of operation and supreme ergonomics. The 540 and 340 models have a total cab enclosure preference existing. This provides enhanced comfort and safety for the individual operating it. Safe operation and 360 degree visibility is sustained by positioning the operator above the load to guarantee an excellent viewpoint of the attachment. An inching pedal allows the individual operating it to vary ground speed whilst maintaining a fixed engine speed. This particular feature enables the operator to properly run accessories while making sure precise engine velocity control. A multi-function direction control controls the bucket, travel direction, float, differential lock and auxiliary hydraulic functions and the lift arm.

Gradall launched in 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most innovative adjustment in their equipment ever since their creation. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to provide high productivity and comparable power to the more conventional excavators. The XL Series put an end to the first Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These traditional systems efficiently handled grading and finishing work but had a difficult time competing for high productivity tasks.
The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a significant increase in their lifting and digging ability. These versions were made along with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system that showed great improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed along with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators use an operator so as to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power for the work at hand. This makes the operator's whole task easier and also saves fuel simultaneously.
When the new XL Series hydraulics became available in the market, Gradall was thrust into the extremely competitive industrial equipment market which are meant to deal with excavating, demolition, pavement removal and several industrial tasks. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further improve the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to work in low overhead areas and to better position attachments.
